Jigsaw Support Scheme is a local charity enabling vulnerable people to live better, safer, happier lives at home.  Vulnerability can happen to anyone, at any time.  A sudden illness like a stroke, heart attack, a brain tumour or a road traffic accident can strike down a vigorous, healthy person and devastate lives.  When that happens, Jigsaw is here for local people.  We’re here to offer emotional and practical support to adults 18 and over in order to help get lives back on track.

We have four projects - Housing Related Support which prevents homelessness.  The causes of homelessness are varied but are most often due to a deterioration in a health condition or a sudden illness or tragedy. The support we offer under this project is vital to keep a roof over the head of a vulnerable person.  We fundraise for this project ourselves so we can accept anyone who lives locally and is in need.  We work with individuals for up to six months with a view to helping them get back on their feet.  One to One Befriending and Group Befriending both of which tackle social isolation and intense loneliness in over 60's living in Mansfield and Ashfield and surrounding areas.  And lastly, the Independence Service which is accessed by anyone who needs support to live independently at home.

Three of our services are free  at the point of delivery, all are tailor made to our service users’ individual circumstances.  The Independence Service is our only paid for service which we launched in 2011 to provide a quality choice in a market dominated by profit.  Because the Independence Service is not for profit, this enables us to concentrate on providing quality, individualised services which meet our service users’ requirements.  It's been so successful that the service has been Highly Commended and Commended in the Customer Focus and New Business categories of the Mansfield 2020 Business Awards.

If you would like to help support us in our work, we would love to hear from you.  If you're an individual looking to make a difference in your community by volunteering your time to the Befriending project or you'd like to fundraise for us, or if you work for a local company with a Charity of the Year scheme, or a charity Payroll scheme and you'd like to nominate us, click on the tabs above for more details of how you can help.  If you would like to refer yourself or a loved one, click on the 'contact us' tab above to make a referral.  We're your local support charity.  Talk to us.  We're listening.
